The Joy of Deep Family Connection

Family connection is my passion and my purpose for this ezine is to teach family skills and to introduce my new Family Center Project.  This Center will be launching in 2017 and I can't wait to give you some sneak previews.

I will be writing article and sharing tips on creating healthy relationships within your family.  This has been the focus of my lie for the past 40 years - working with individuals, couples and families, privately and in classes.  My goal is to enrich and support your family with articles, groups and individual sessions.

Meanwhile in my own family, my daughter is getting married soon!  And I'm so excited to be going to her wedding which will be in Costa Rica, where she lives.

As the date is approaching, I am so excited about having our whole family together for a week.  I love being with each person in my family.  And seeing where they are now in their lives.  They range in age from 68 to 3 years old, and it is such a pleasure to listen to them and play with them!!  I learn so much and feel so deeply fed by my time with the family.

Joy to you and your family,
Julie

The Magic of Appreciation

I was exhausted on my birthday and it could have ruined the whole day.  The only thing that saved me was an old ritual that my family picked up years ago.  I can't believe how lucky I am.  This noisy family restaurant wasn't helping my exhaustion at all.  Then during desert, something magical happened.  Each member of my family gave me the gift of appreciating something specific about me.

Tears filled my eyes as my daughter thanked me for shopping with her for her wedding dress.  She talked about how much fun we had after shopping when we went out in South Beach, Florida.

For me this is the most important ritual we have in our family for each person's birthday.  I have to tell you, I felt so connected and so loved.  (It was so adorable to listen to  my three year-old grandson tell me he loved my voice.)

When my kids were little, we would ask them on their birthday, "What do you want first: cake, gifts or appreciations?"  Every time the answer was the same - appreciations.  The birthday person would then sit back and bask in the appreciations.  The whole family felt the love.  Now are children are grown and they do it with their kids.

I feel tender again as I write this and wouldn't trade it for the world.
